Experience the best for your wiry terriers, or silky spaniels with Tidy Tails. Our experts use the natural method of handstripping to remove your pets dead hairs to promote the growth of layers, and retain the natural colour and texture of their coat.
This technique is not suitable for every pet. We take into consideration your pets neutering status, age, coat condition, general health, tolerance and previous grooming.
All handstripping services include nail trimming and ear cleaning as standard. Your pet will also receive a bath, at either 2 weeks before stripping, 2 weeks after stripping or at time of appointment if desired (terms and conditions apply).
What method suits my pet best?

Blown Coat
Your pets outer coat and undercoat are ready to be stripped out. Your pet will go from scruffy to smooth. Often if a coat has fully blown, but has not grown layers between, baldness may occur. Please speak to your groomer about any concerns regarding handstripping blown coats

Rolling Coat
The coats outer layer can be stripped as regularly as it needs to form layers on the undercoat and mid coat. This is a high level commitment and the pet will need to be kept on a regular schedule to keep the coat rolling.

Spaniel Carding
The carding technique is used on flat coats to comb out and remove the fluffy undercoat and unruly outer coat of spaniels. This can be done alongside a regular grooming appointment, including the styling of furnishings.
Recommended schedule - 8 to 10 weeks

Preparation or Restoration
Preparation for stripping a puppy's coat to be fully stripped can take up to 2 years to correctly introduce the process and the formation of layers. Restoration of a coat which has previously been clipped is possible in most cases, but could take a long time. Please speak to your groomer for options with your pets coat
